Kate doesn’t collect any personal data. I don’t run servers for Kate, and there are no accounts, analytics, ads or trackers.
Your music and recordings
Your music, lyrics, playlists, profile and recordings are stored on your device and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your private iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit. I can’t access that data. When you share a library, Apple shares it directly with the people you invite.
What happens on your device, and what doesn’t
Recording and speech recognition run on your device. Song identification uses Apple’s ShazamKit and the iTunes Search API. When Kate looks up lyrics, it sends the song’s title, artist and length to LRCLIB (lrclib.net). Nothing that identifies you is sent with it.
Tips
Tips are processed by Apple. I don’t receive your payment details.
Problem reports
If you send a problem report, it contains what you wrote, your device and iOS version, library counts, and a recent app log. It doesn’t contain song titles, lyrics or audio. You choose where it goes, and I use it only to fix the problem.
